No need to worry if a Service provider or internet link goes down, if using a dual Wan or multi WAN Draytek router internal users won't even notice. More on Draytek here: For the more technical people that might already have some questions here some more explanation. The Voip server used, Asterisk, follows the RTP. That means it replies to the same IP and port it receives the RTP from. The session fail-over for other SIP servers or any other application might not be as transparent, in the worst case existing session will fail but the very next call attempt will work. In this case the router detects the the failure immediately as the cable is physically disconnected. If ISP fails upstream then the failover would take about 5 -10 seconds as Draytek is testing the connection every 5 seconds. This is designed that way as we don't want the router failing over every time there is a micro-cut. For some kinds of sessions like https, the user will have to refresh the browser and start a new session as https servers don't accept a sudden change on client's IP. |
